The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one the most talked-about car these days and recently a new version of this SUV has been spied testing. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 3-door variant is already launched but only for the international market and its launch in India is still due. Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Launch Date in India
Suzuki is not likely to launch the 3-door version in India anytime soon, but it could bring the Jimny 5-door version with a longer wheelbase in India. Recently a 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny edition was spotted testing without any camouflage in a lime green paint scheme. As per the media reports, the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door variant could be launched in early 2023. It will be the successor to the Gypsy which was discontinued in 2019.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Overview
A leaked document shows that the new version of this SUV will be 300 mm longer and approximately 100 kg heavier than the ongoing model. As per the leaked reports, the new Jimny 5-door variant will measure 3,850 in length and 1.645 mm in width. Its kerb weight will be 1,190 kg and it will offer a ground clearance of 210 mm. This SUV will run on a wheelbase of 2,550 mm which is 300 mm larger than the 3-door model.

The Indian variant of the Jimny 5-door edition will be equipped with a 1.5 Litre petrol engine that will meet the BS6 emission norms. The powertrain on this SUV will be the same as the Ertiga, Ciaz, and Brezza. The gearbox on this SUV will be a 5-speed manual unit or a 4-speed automatic. It will be offered in four-wheel drive (4WD) and front-wheel drive (FWD) drivetrain options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine churns out 102 HP of maximum power and 130 Nm of peak torque.
The international variant will be powered by a 1.4-litre petrol Boosterjet engine with a 48V mild-hybrid setup. This powertrain is currently used in the Vitara SUV and the European variant of S-Cross. The Boosterjet 1.4 Litre engine makes around 130 PS of max power and 235 Nm of max torque. The international spec of Jimny 5-door will also get an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.

Design & Features
The test mule had the same design as the currently sold 3-door model. Apart from differences in dimension and structure, the new 5-door model Suzuki Jimny mostly resemble the 3-door variant in terms of design. It comes with round LED headlamps that look very attractive and its clamshell bonnet gives it a distinctive front end looks. The new model will come with a redesigned front grille and it will feature a single horizontal slat. The test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door variant looks rugged and very appealing.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door will come with a feature-loaded cabin. This SUV will be equipped with rear AC vents, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an adjustable driver seat. It will feature a 7-Inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity option. It will come with safety features like dual front airbags, traction control, ABS, stability control, hill hold assist, and rear parking sensors.

The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Price in India is expected to be around Rs 10 lakhs for the base variant. It will be a Sub 4 meter SUV so that will help the brand take advantage of some tax cuts in India. Its prime competitor in the Indian market will be Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. It will also compete with compact SUV’s like the Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
