Aprilia is an Italian two-wheeler manufacturer that makes scooters and motorcycles. The company was founded by Alberto Beggio after world war 2 in Noale, Italy. Aprilia initially use to manufacture bicycles in the province of Venice. In 1968, Alberto’s son, Ivano Beggio, took charge of the company and made the first 50cc motorcycle. The first mopeds made by Aprilia were named Colibrì, Daniela and Packi. Later on, the brand also produced a motocross bike named the Scarabeo which was available in the market till the late 1970s. Ivan Alborghetti won the Italian 125 and 250 cc motocross championship on Aprilias in 1977. Aprilia added enduro, trails, and road bikes of 50 to 600 cc in the 1980s. The brand first introduced the TL320 trials machine and then two years later came the ST 125 road bike. In the year 1985, Aprilia started outsourcing engines to an Austrian company called Rotax.
Aprilia launched a 1000cc V-twin superbike named RSV Mille and a 1000cc V-twin sports touring bike named the Falco. The company also entered the World Superbike Championship Racing with the RSV Mille in 1999.
