Design: Yamaha XSR700 follows a retro classic design language. It borrows its major design cues from its elder sibling the XSR 900. It has round headlamps and round taillight, that complements its retro design. The two texture leather seats add a premium touch to the bike’s overall design. It looks compact and comes in two colour options to choose from. Overall the XSR700 looks stunning and proves itself as a good looking middleweight bike.
Engine & Performance: Yamaha XSR700 is powered by a 689cc, inline-2 cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC, engine. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The XSR700 is capable of churning out 74.8 PS of maximum power at 9,000 RPM and 68 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 RPM. It has a linear torque delivery that makes the ride more enjoyable. XSR700 can reach the top speed of around 225 KMPH*.
Frame & Suspension: It uses the tried and tested, diamond-type frame. The chassis is light and compact. The suspension duties on the Yamaha XSR700 are taken care of by telescopic forks at the front end, while the rear end is equipped with a swingarm linked mono-cross shock absorber. Suspensions are tuned for a comfortable ride. The front-wheel travel is 130 MM, while the rear wheel travel is also 130 MM.
Brakes & Wheels: The braking duties on the Yamaha XSR700 are taken care of by double 282 MM four-piston monobloc callipers hydraulic disc at the front and a single 245 MM 2-piston monobloc calliper hydraulic disc at the rear. It comes with a dual-channel ABS, which prevents wheel lock during panic braking situations. XSR700 comes with 17-inch golden-coloured alloy wheels and tubeless Tyres. Console: Yamaha XSR700 uses a fully digital instrument cluster, The cluster is round in shape and is mounted directly on the handlebar. Currently, there are no launch plans for Yamaha XSR 700 in India. Although there have been rumours about the launch of XSR 155 in India by the end of 2024. So, if XSR 155 makes it to the Indian market, we can hope that Yamaha might launch its bigger sibling in India in the near future. Verdict On Yamaha XSR700
XSR700 is mostly based on its successful naked sibling the Yamaha MT 07, however, it is a lot different in terms of engine characteristics and rideability. The Yamaha XSR700 has a taller & wider stance and swept-back handlebars, that gives the rider a proper upright riding position. The parallel-twin motor packs a punch and the power delivery is linear, which allows the rider to use the entire rev band smoothly.
It has a compact design and shorter wheelbase than its naked sibling MT07, which makes it nimble and easy to handle. The front forks are now on the stiffer side as compared to the old model. Dual 282mm front disc brakes provide adequate stopping power and now it comes with dual-channel ABS as standard. Overall the new Yamaha XSR700 is a good retro-inspired middleweight bike that packs a punch.
