TVS Apache RTR 220 Overview
Design & Styling: The design of the Apache 220 will be mainly based on its sibling the RTR 200. It will carry the same naked streetfighter like design with some minor changes. It will feature a stylish LED headlamp with DRL’s, sporty dual-barrel muffler and sharp tank layout. The TVS Apache RTR 220 will have an aggressive and stylish design.
Engine & Performance: The TVS Apache 220 will share its powertrain with its upcoming cruiser sibling Zepplin. It will be powered by a 220cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. Its power output could be in the range of 24-26 HP and its torque output could be in the range of 21-23 Nm. The Apache 220 will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox and hence it will have a much better top-end performance than its younger sibling the Apache RTR 200.
Frame, Suspension, & Brakes: It will be based on the same double cradle split synchro chassis used by other bikes from the TVS Apache series. The suspension setup will consist of telescopic front forks and a hydraulic rear mono-shock. Braking duties on the TVS Apache RTR 220 will be taken care of by disc brakes at both wheels. It will be equipped with dual-channel ABS with RLP control.
Wheels, Tyres & Other Features: The TVS Apache 220 will come with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. TVS might also give it wider front and rear tyres. The instrument console will be a fully digital unit with mobile app connectivity. Apache 220 will come with segment-first features like ride modes, adjustable brake and clutch levers, race telemetry and in-built navigation.
TVS Apache 220 Price in India & Launch Date
As of now, there are no official words from the brand regarding the launch of this streetfighter in the Indian market. The TVS Apache RTR 220 was rumoured to be launched when TVS revealed the Zepplin concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. It might be launched in India if TVS brings the Zepplin 220 to the Indian market.
The TVS Apache 220 price in India is expected to be around Rs 1,48,000 (Ex-Showroom Price). It will compete with the Pulsar NS 200, KTM Duke 200, & Hornet 2.0 in this price range. If TVS prices the Apache 220 competitively then it will be one of the most exciting bikes under 1.5 lakhs in India.
Verdict on TVS Apache RTR 220
As the Apache 200 loses out against its competitors in terms of performance. The TVS Apache RTR 220 will be worthy competitors for the KTM duke 200 and the Pulsar NS 200. A more powerful engine along with a 6-speed gearbox, aggressive design and segment-first features will make the Apache 220 stand out from the competition.
Currently, we can not say anything about the possibility of launch. But, If TVS manages to launch the Zepplin in India then they might as well introduce the TVS Apache 220 in the Indian market. It will be a great addition to the Apache series and we genuinely hope this streetfighter becomes a reality.
