2020 Yamaha R15 V3 BS6: Price, Specification, Launch and Features.

Yamaha Motor India launched the 2020 new emission compliant Yamaha R15 V3 BS6. The pricing of the BS6 model starts at 1.45 lakh INR (ex-showroom Delhi). The BS6 model is 2000 INR more expensive than the previous BS4 model. R15 V3 was already a hot selling product in the Indian market.

Even with stiff competition from RC125, it retained its place among buyers. With great performance and premium design, the new BS6 R15 V3 is one of the best bikes under 1.5 lakh rupees. So, let’s check out, what is new in the BS6 R15 V3.

So, What’s New in The BS6 Yamaha R15V3

With the compliance of new BS 6 engine, it is obvious that the weight of the bike increased marginally. The bike is now 3 kg heavier than the BS4 model. A considerable amount of drop-in power and torque output is there. It comes with 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, BS6 engine.

In terms of equipment upgrade 2020 BS 6 R15 V3 comes with side stand engine cut off switch, dual horn and radial tubeless Tyre for the rear wheel. Also the pillion seat is now 20 mm lower, that increase ease of access.

Design And Colours

The new BS6 variant has an only a new set of stickers. The racing blue colour variant has now blue alloys as a standard offering, which looks good. The other colour option does not get the coloured alloys option. 2020 BS6 Yamaha R15 is offered in three colours.

The availability of R15 in monster energy Moto GP edition in BS6 variant is yet not confirmed. Monster Energy Moto Gp edition is the most good looking among all the colours offered.

The slim twin LED headlamp setup goes good with the design. The all-digital instruments cluster is easily readable and has all the important functions. The instrument cluster also has a gear position indicator and gear shift indicator.

Engine And Performance

The new engine is capable of producing 18.3 bhp of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The power and torque has been reduced slightly as compared to the BS4 model. The older model was capable of churning 19 bhp of maximum power and 15 Nm of maximum torque at the same rpm range.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The assist and slipper clutch feature ensures light clutch pull and smooth downshifts. Yamaha MT 15 and R15 V3 are the only 150cc bikes in India that offer a slipper clutch.

Suspension And Braking

The other hardware are same as the previous model. It continue to uses telescopic front forks and mono shock at the rear. International variant of R15 V3 uses upside down front forks, but Indian variant is equipped with telescopic forks to keep cost in check.

R15 uses the tried and tested delta box frame that gives an excellent balance. The front looks sleek and aerodynamic. Braking duties are taken care of by 282 mm disc up front and 220 mm disc at the rear. R15 has dual-channel ABS on board, That helps rider during sudden braking.

So, the drop in power is considerable but Yamaha claims it to be minimal. only time will tell how much has the performance of the bike has been affected in the real world condition.

The addition of new features like the side stand engine cut-off, dual horns and rear radial Tyre seems really good and all for the price hike of only 2000. Yamaha R15 V3 still holds its position in the market as a good entry-level supersport bike in the 150cc segment.
